specialists in community and social infrastructure planning

Our approach

Collaborative, service-focused and based on evidence

COLLABORATIVE

We’d much rather work with you than simply for you. Firstly, we seek to understand your capabilities, then work with you to develop processes, tools, reports and other resources that enable you to plan effectively for community infrastructure long after our contract with you has finished.

SERVICE-FOCUSED

We understand that facilities planning and asset management should be driven by service delivery requirements. Our approach puts services at the heart of the process to ensure infrastructure directly responds to the requirements of service providers and users.

COMPREHENSIVE EVIDENCE OF COMMUNITY NEED

We don’t limit our assessments of community needs to just the quantity of infrastructure required. We understand that quantity of provision is only part of the picture. We also assess: travel accessibility by a range of transport modes; physical condition and fitness for purpose; capacity, availability and utilisation; and the social value of services and facilities.

whole-of-organisation

Community infrastructure planning is multi-disciplinary, requiring coordination across functions such as: social planning and research; service planning and delivery; strategic land-use planning; asset management; capital works and long-term financial planning. Infrastructure plans must be informed by a range of strategies and stakeholders.

We help organisations identify common goals and mutual benefits that can support departmental collaboration and alignment. And if your departments need more ‘stick’ than ‘carrot’, we have years of experience creating planning frameworks that mandate a more integrated approach.
